I’ve always known Roosevelt’s for its amazing, amazing waffles. Ever since my first visit there, I’ve always thought that they served one of the BEST waffles I’ve ever had. They even have Churros Waffles too! What a splendid idea!
Roosevelt has recently launched their NEW Weekend Brunch menu, and of course I was thrilled to try them ALL! Because seriously, they all sounded too good to be true!
The Place
Besides their waffles, another thing I love about Roosevelt’s is how conveniently it is located. Just at the mouth of Exit H of Outram Park MRT station, lies this pretty diner. Despite its convenience, it is also well-hidden from the hustle bustle of the city, a perfect place to enjoy your cuppa or weekend brunch!
The Food
Here’s their usual menu:
Have I mentioned about HOW GOOD their Truffle Scrambled Egg Waffles ($16++) is?!
Here’s their new Weekend Brunch menu that I would be introducing in this post!
1. Breakfast Waffle Candied BLT ($14++)
I’ve got to admit, this was definitely not the first thing that caught my eye on the menu and I was honestly not expecting much from it because it’s BLT. It’s so… Sandwich. But hey, great concept with the WAFFLE-WICH eh?
The first mouthful of this proved me so, so wrong. I fell in love with it immediately. I loved how the candied bacon brought in the sweetness that complemented the savories in this dish, like the egg and smoked ham, and even the tanginess from the tomato relish! Besides, the waffles were, as usual, on point. Everything went so well in this dish, it was a party in my mouth!
2. Brioche French Toast Waffles ($12++)
This was the dish I was looking forward to, all my life. BRIOCHE? FRENCH TOAST? WAFFLE? No way. That’s an ingenius creation. Literally EVERYTHING I LOVE on a plate. What could get better than that?!
The waffle definitely lived up to my expectations, with its eggy french toast texture. Wow. Taken together with that scoop of vanilla ice cream and mixed berry compote, my limited vocabulary can’t describe how good it was. Loved the hot-cold combination as well! Mmm..
3) Spiced Potato Bacon Hash ($16++)
I know, I know, you guys must be thinking HUH LIKE THAT ONLY? It may not look particularly good or appetizing, but I’m sure your teachers have taught you not to judge a book by its cover. In this case, do not judge dish by its appearance. We were all surprised by how well the textures were put together, and that tomato relish.. Well-played.
4) Crab Cake Benedict ($21)
It’s not often you get Crab Cake benedict in Singapore, so this is definitely a must-try if you haven’t tried it yet! This drove a few of us mad, because it was so addictive. The crab cakes even have chunks of fresh crab meat in them. What a unique twist to the usual Eggs Benedict!
5) Baby Back Ribs ($22++)
Available ALL DAY. I thought these were too affordable to be true! The tender meat on the ribs, and that char. However, we felt that some parts were a little bitter due to the char. But well, the tenderness of the protein made up for it!
Bonus!
1) Lemongrass Prawn Burger ($18++)
I LOVED the homemade brioche buns on this, and that patty with crunchy prawns.. Wow. Paired with a hint of lemon grass, that was definitely a first. I’ve never had a lemongrass prawn burger, yet I was pretty blown away by this! The slight tanginess from this dish, and the crunch from the prawns revealed how fresh they were. It left me wanting for more even after so much food!
2) Teddy’s US Beef Burger ($20++) This is everything you can expect from a very American burger. I thought the brioche buns (YUMMMM!) and the crunchy bacon made the burger experience even better. OH OH! And that perfectly medium patty.. ooh so juicy. If you’re looking for a heavy American burger, or are a fan of beef burgers, you DEFINITELY have to get this! Besides serving beers and house pours, Roosevelt serves coffee and pretty good milk shakes too! I thought this cup of mocha I had was not too bad, while the milkshakes my dining partners had were bursting with flavors too! They’d definitely bring the boys to the yard.
Closing Remarks
Overall, I was very impressed by the new menu Roosevelt has to offer. The only pity is that they are only served during the weekends. You guys should definitely head down to try these unique twists to your usual brunch. I understand that some of the prices may be a little high for some of the dishes, however I thought it was pretty reasonable for the fresh ingredients Roosevelt uses, and the process behind creating these dishes, like the handmade patties.
If you can’t make it for the Weekend Brunch, don’t fret. The Roosevelt’s mains that I’ve tried so far were all on point. If you’re a fan of burgers, you gotta try them here at Roosevelt’s! The baby back ribs would be my choice of mains if I were to go back there again. THE RIBS. ALL TO MYSELF. Best thing that can ever happen to me.
