Seriously, who can resist THICK toasts? Imagine that satisfaction as your teeth sinks into the fluffy brioche toast.. The crispy exterior, the warm, buttery interior, with a scoop of ice cream and various toppings.. Oooooo that hot and cold combination. A combination to die for.
Ever since my experience at After You at BKK, I’ve fell in love, so hard, with these thick carb-loaded ingenius creation. The more sinful, the better eh?
Oh my, look at these babies. Aren’t they just B-E-A-U-TIFUL?! So damn good as well.
I haven’t been working hard to look for Shibuya toasts in Singapore because I am a woman of little faith. However, after my visit to Dazzling Cafe recently, I thought hey, this might just be the next genre of food I’ll go crazy over. Hence, my search for the places in Singapore for Shibuya Toasts begun, and here I am, sharing my secret list with you guys.
1. Dazzling Cafe
Well, well.. Dazzling has arrived on our shores, finally. Taiwan’s leading place for their Shibuya toasts, and crazily photogenic food items. It’s one place you got to check out if you are on a hunt for thick toast, because this experience is once in a lifetime. 10/10 Instagram worthy, but taste wise.. It may have just missed a spot there.
Dazzling Cafe
11 Stamford Road
Capitol Building
Singapore 178884
2. Stateland Cafe
I’ve heard about how these run out so quickly at peak periods, but I haven’t been able to pay them a visit just yet. Definitely one of the first places I would head to after my exams, for some quality coffee and shibuya toast. Did you know Stateland cafe actually make their own breads! I won’t be surprised to find out if these thick toasts are made from scratch! YUM.
NEW MENU!
The new menu consists of this BRAND NEW charcoal honey toast, which I thought tasted really amazing albeit being a little too sweet because of the malt sugar, but this was served with a scoop of coconut ice cream, marshmallow and salted caramel! Their other new invention includes a Matcha toast! Both priced at $14.90! GO TRY NOW!
Stateland Cafe
30 Bali Lane
Singapore 189866
3. The Coffee Daily
Oh, my favorite mugging hangout for some dirty espresso. Yet I’ve never seen this item on the menu. Maybe I’ve been blinded by the books. THIS thick toast doesn’t only look awesome, it sure sounds sinfully good as well – SPECULOOS THICK TOAST with vanilla bean ice cream. Oh god. I NEED THAT. NOW.
The Coffee Daily
75 Brighton Crescent
Singapore 559216
4. The Loft
I love how this cafe is so aptly named – The Loft. Situated on the second level of a shophouse along Chinatown, I loved the cosy interior of this place, overlooking the bustling crowd below. Never knew they had their rendition of shibuya toast too!
The Loft
268A South Bridge Road
Singapore 058817
5. Assembly Coffee
Probably the second most photogenic one of the lot. Look at this deconstructed Shibuya Toast. Yet another Instagram worthy picture. I love the coffee there, but have never since returned after my first visit because boy, it’s so claustrophobic with the crowd in there! Maybe I would, soon. Just for this.
Assembly Coffee
26 Evans Road
Singapore 259367
6. Whisk and Paddle
Besides the crazy relaxing atmosphere, this cafe serves up a whole lot of photogenic items on their menu too. And they’ve recently launched their SHIBUYA THICK TOAST. I think, the looks.. got fight with Dazzling. Just lacking of the colorful swirls.
Whisk and Paddle
10 Tebing Lane
Singapore 828836
7. Nam’s
Did you know that Nam’s uses the “Cha Tra Mue” tea leaf for their ChaYen? Yes, it’s the one we look out for on our trips to BKK. The original Thai Milk Tea is not the only draw of Nam’s Brewing Thai Tea Coffee, they do serve up a rendition of their Shibuya toast too! Well.. We’ve got to try and see if it resembles the one at After You eh?

8. Loaves Me
Oh I loaves you. I’ve heard so many good reviews about this place, it’s a surprise why I haven’t dragged my lazy bum down to try them. It’s not only photogenic, and pretty good tasting (I’ve heard people saying it’s the best shibuya toast in town!), it’s also at an affordable price tag too! $6.50 per toast. You could have 3 of these for the price you pay at Dazzling.

Singapore 178901 (Exit B Bras Basah Circle Line)
9. Sunday Market
Eh… This one.. Is a little dubious to place it in this category. Since they named themselves as the Bangkok Toast… Well.. I’ll give them the benefit of a doubt. Miniature Shibuya Toast, served with green tea mousse, and a side of thai tea ice cream. Might not be the thick toast we are looking for, but this one’s pretty much hit the spot as well!

10. Dessert Project
This place looks absolutely promising, and I even heard that their White Truffle ice cream is pretty dope too! Wow. What could beat the combination of THICK TOAST and great ice cream? Possibly nothing else. Their Nutella Toast and Sticky Toffee Toast are priced at $14.90!

11. Watanabe Coffee
Matcha lovers rejoice, because this Matcha and Ogura Honey Toast ($16.90++) looks just divine! Thanks to Nicholas (@stormscape) for his picture, which brought my attention to this yummy looking toast! $16.90++ seems like a tad too expensive though but I’ll know when I try it some time this week!
W.A. Cafe
350 Orchard Road Isetan Scotts
Level 1 Shaw House
Singapore 238868
12. Tuk Tuk Cha
Launched just TODAY, in August, comes the Shibuya Toast from Tuk Tuk Cha. This little takeaway thai diner has got it going with its crisp toast slathered with amazing amounts of glorious butter and hey, check out their unique flavors – COCONUT and MANGO. The coconut toast was a clear winner for me with its strips of young coconut flesh, shreds, and a generous scoop of coconut ice cream. Wow. Just wow. And at a very affordable price of $10.80!
