Review: Lickers Ice Cream @ Lorong Ah Soo

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

One of the happiest things in life, is having an ice cream parlor opening 5 minutes away from your place, and JUST beside a damn good cafe (i.e. CIEL) that has amazing bakes. Rejoice! All you Lorong Ah Soo dwellers, because now, we not only get to enjoy local delicacies at our favorite Blk 105 market, we have Ciel Patisserie and LICKERS to meet the needs of our modern sweet tooth.
Photo 10-5-15 2 43 22 pmLickers has officially opened on 17 May this year! This 2-week old ice cream parlor has already saw its huge share of supporters during its soft launch as there was a queue both times when I visited them, and a full house on one occasion!

Their ice cream are made in house daily, with freshly supplied ingredients. Not only are their ice cream fresh, they do have unique flavors such as ginger lemon, coconut mango, and yakult cookie!Photo 10-5-15 2 40 01 pm Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset And Yakult Cookie was what I got on my first visit because it sounded really nice and interesting, besides I love to have a crunch in my ice cream! This did not disappoint and it tasted like a yogurt ice cream with cookie crumbs! Really addictive, although it could be a tad too sweet!Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset On my second visit, we decided to try their waffles with 2 scoops of ice cream, namely the Salted Butter and Mango Coconut. I particularly loved the Salted Butter because it tasted just like popcorn, and they should probably name it popcorn flavored to make it more attractive. This scoop went perfectly well with the crisp and fairly dense waffle, just the kind of waffle that I like! The Mango Coconut failed to impress me because the taste of coconut was being overwhelmed by the mango, not a good combination perhaps, as the taste of mango is usually very rich. Maybe combining it with another rich tasting fruit, like banana, might do the trick.

Closing Remarks

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed both of my visits to Lickers, and they do really serve pretty unique and quality ice cream! Do note that the mentioned flavors may not be available all the time as they serve only about 16 flavors a day, and each made fresh daily with the ingredients that they have! I wish they had some bakes or good coffee to go along though, it would be definitely my favorite hang out then!
