This tiny, hole-in-a-wall, coffee joint held their official opening just last weekend! Located just beside MeatLiquor Sin, although small, they are hard to miss because of their glass windows, and charming monochromatic interior. With their main target audience being the people working in the office suite, Mavrx is mainly a takeaway coffee joint, with just 2 benches available for seating, definitely not the usual cafe for you to chill with a cuppa! Frankly, it may also be a lil’ awkward for you to be just sitting there in the small space with just you and the barista, although he’s a really friendly guy! Do talk to him to learn more about their coffee, or just about anything else.
Mavrx uses the Australian Carmello blend for its coffee, and here’s how the menu looks like: Being a takeaway joint, pretty coffee cups are always welcomed, like the ones they have at Mavrx! The phrase “GET SHIT DONE” choruses throughout the joint, and I think they’re trying to say something to me with that.
Besides these pretty take away cups, they do have nice coffee-centric poker cards as well, and a tic-tac-toe sheet as a prop for your photographs, or something you could do with your partner if you intend to get a cuppa there! Here was my cup of Flat White ($5). Well-balanced, was the first thing that came to me when I took my first sip. Not too milky nor acidic, and of a perfect temperature. I was impressed. $5 for a cup like this, I approve, and what a way to get my caffeine fix! Once in a while, Mavrx has the choice of serving their piccolo-sized coffee in this waffle cup. Look how incredibly adorable this is! The rich chocolate that covered the brim of the waffle cup gave the coffee an extra creamy texture, and also a tinge of sweetness to it! However, the waffle cup was a little laohong, to our dismay. I was still looking forward to devour the entire cup! Mavrx also serve a pretty mean cold brew ($5), with their coffee being served in 5 syringes. What a cute presentation, and definitely what you need if you crave for a quick caffeine fix! This was launched on their official opening day, and I’m not too sure if they are still available right now. If they are, I would say, as much as this looks enticing, do give it a miss. Macadamia, almond brew tasted nothing like coffee, and it was just weird. Really weird tasting. Brownie points given for the cute flamingo straw though.
Closing Remarks
Overall, Mavrx is a really good place to grab a quick and affordable caffeine fix, although you may have to wait for a while if there’s a queue as they only have one barista! Nevertheless, they are definitely a joy for everyone working in the area! Do note their opening hours though, they are only opened on weekdays, till 4.30pm!
