SG50 Special: Crystal Jade Palace

Photo 1-8-15 1 06 33 pm

Yes, yes I know National Day is over, but hey, Singapore will stay 50 until the next National Day, so it’s SG50 for the next 12 months! YAY.

Crystal Jade has launched a new menu to celebrate SG50 with ADORABLE DIMSUM and xiaolongbao creations, as well as attractive promotions! So.. Read on to find out more!

The SG50 dishes and promotions will be available and valid from now till 30 September!

In case you guys didn’t realize, there are many variants of the Crystal Jade Restaurants and different dishes will be available at these different places!

First up, at Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao & Crystal Jade Jiang Nan outlets.

Local Flavors Xiao Long Bao ($7.80 for 4 pieces, 2 pieces per flavor)Photo 1-8-15 12 43 02 pm These are not just pretty colored XLBs to match the SG50 theme. The fillings in these pretty looking XLBs are the Singapore favorite flavors – Chili Crab (red) and Hainanese Chicken Rice (White).

The chili crab xlb lacked the slight heat which I loved from chili crab sauces, and it was slightly too sweet. I wished there were more crab filling in there though. The Hainanese Chicken Rice flavor fared better for me as this contained tender minced chicken thigh, and it was paired with the oh-so-familiar taste of chicken rice. They even come with the ginger dip! Mmm!

PROMOTION! – This steamed basket of 4 will be priced at just $5 with a minimum spending of $30 on a la carte food items from now till the end of September!

The rest of the dimsum specials are available at Crystal Jade Palace Restaurant , Crystal Jade Golden Palace and Crystal Jade Dining IN.

1. Steamed Siew Mai with Caviar ($9.50 FOR 3)
Photo 1-8-15 12 38 43 pm
A more atas twist to your usual siew mai. Generous chunks of prawn within the minced meat ball in the siew mai bound to satisfy your siewmai cravings – you don’t really need the caviar, honestly.

2. Steamed Siew Mai with Quail Egg ($5.50 for 3)
Photo 1-8-15 12 35 10 pm An usual twist with a WHOLE quail egg packed within the mix of minced pork, black fungus and sweet diced chestnuts. Photo 1-8-15 12 47 35 pmHere, it looks like this! Sorry for the blurred picture, I got too excited to eat it. What a nice change from the usual siew mai, I APPROVE, and I wish they would keep this permanently on their menu!

3. Fried Chili Crab Bun ($5.50 for 3)
Photo 1-8-15 12 57 00 pm
Everybody loves mantou with chili crab sauce. I JUDGE YOU IF YOU DON’T, AND GIVE ME ALL YOUR MANTOUS, I WANT. Photo 1-8-15 12 59 37 pmLook at this. The crisp exterior of the mantou bursts to give way to the flavorful chili crab sauce, which once again, could do better with a spicier kick. Mmm. I want more, but I’m getting fat. So.. No.

4. Deep Fried Hokkaido Milk Custard ($8 for 5)
Photo 1-8-15 1 03 51 pm
I dont know how is this SG50, but this was super yummy with the soft creamy center of Hokkaido milk encased within a crisp and light exterior. Perfect combination, and best eaten when warm.

Photo 1-8-15 1 04 47 pm SO PRETTY! I cannot. The flaky petals encase a smooth lotus paste with pine nuts. YUM, if you love lotus paste. A warning though, this is a SUPER FILLING DISH. Order at your own risk ok?

6) Chirpy Chick Pastry ($5.50 for 3)Photo 1-8-15 1 06 33 pmOMG SO CUTE. I CANNOT ALSO. Hahaha! But yes, look at those dumb little faces looking up at you. Can you bear biting its head off? CAN YOU?! CAN YOU?!!!!
Photo 1-8-15 12 53 58 pmGood to see, BUT I didn’t think this was especially delicious. Maybe because I’ve had the full bloom lotus pastry before this. These little chicks are also filled with lotus paste filling. I wished they were filled with something else like salted egg custard or like char siew. Mmm. I’m a genius, am I? HAHA.

7) Goldfish Crystal Dumpling ($5.50 for 3 pieces)
Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset
THESE ARE SALTED EGG YOLK CUSTARD FILLED FISHES. WA. MY FAVORITE. But I thought the taste of salted egg can be enhanced just a little. Nevertheless a great take on this dish, and aww what an intricate dumpling.
