I’m one who doesn’t go for Korean BBQ or Mookata of sorts regularly because:
1. I’m lazy to cook.
2. I don’t know how to tell if the food is cooked. I DIE HOW?
3. Most of all, I hate to stink and reek of my food for the rest of the day.
Thankfully at Kin Tub, their mookata is situated just outside the food court of Peace Centre, where there are gentle and peaceful winds, so that the smell of food does not stick to your clothes. I left very happily yesterday because I did not smell a bit like my food! Heh heh.
The Place
Located at Peace Centre, diagonally opposite the famous Selegie Beancurd place, and beside POMO and Parklane Mall, lies KinTub, the Thai Steamboat place.
I almost missed the place because they only had a small indoor preparation area and their kitchen, without any obvious shop front. Okay lah, actually you’d figure it out when you look at the tables eh? I blind okay.
To get a better view of this place, feel free to have a virtual tour of kintub HERE!

We arrived at 6.30pm while it was still peaceful. The crowds started streaming in about 1 hour later, and I had to commend the servers for being so efficient and prompt in arranging the tables to fit large groups of customers!
The MenuInitially when I heard that Kin Tub was a Thai Steamboat place, I thought there would at least be a tomyum soup base – because tomyum is synonymous with thai right? Apparently not. We were told that there was only some cabbage soup base, because they are a Thai Mookata place. Uhmmm… Can someone enlighten me on this? What’s the link? The only signs of being Thai were their drinks offering – Thai Iced Milk Tea and Thai Iced Green Tea. I wish they had Thai desserts like Mango Sticky Rice or Red Ruby though!
The Food
What pretty colors! But stick with the Thai Iced Tea though! The Thai Green Tea tasted too Jasmine-ish for us. I think you might like it if you like Lavender, because it was too fragrant for our liking! The Thai Milk Tea, on the other hand, fared well with its sweetness. Could do better if it was more gao, though.
We ordered the Standard Platter ($44.90), and topped up with Pork Belly, Beef slices and straw mushrooms! Our food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering, and wow! The portions are pretty substantial! No wonder they said it could feed 2-3 pax!
My personal favorites were the CHICKEN and BEEF slices! The chicken chunks were already seasoned with some sesame sauce, and that made it very flavorful! It was very tender too! The beef slices were oh so delicious. While I’m not a fan of pork liver, I thought the pork liver here was not as stinky as the ones I had previously, and wow, DIP IT IN THE CHILI! Everything is instantly made 10x better.
They do have meat platters with a wide array of meats, and the seafood platters too! All priced equally, so take your pick and enjoy the food! GO FOR THE MEAT PLATTER! Their proteins were really the highlight of our dinner last night. This was our appetizer, which got forgotten and only arrived at the end of our meal! The Yum Voosen (glass noodles salad) – $8 was YUM. Not impressive but it was tangy and spicy enough to whet your appetites! I felt like having more meat, despite being so full after this plate of glass noodles! Hehe!
Closing Remarks
I was pretty impressed with the pretty generous servings of ingredients KinTub serves for their Mookata! The meats were all well-seasoned and fresh, I just couldn’t stop placing one piece after the other into my mouth! While the prices may be slightly higher than the ones you can find outside, this place is opened from 5pm to 5am daily – IF YOU REALLY NEED YOUR MOOKATA FIX LATE AT NIGHT – I guess the prices would be justifiable. HAHA!
