Since my last visit to FATCAT to have their mojito spheres and their charcoal waffle with SALTED EGG YOLK SAUCE, which were what seemed like their only specialties. They’ve grown so much since then, and instead of just serving ice cream, limited portions of waffles and limited selected plated desserts, they now have a NEW menu, which offers a WIDER variety of plated desserts!
WA still got pre, main and post dessert one leh! Damn atas. The only time I had that was at 1 Altitude, and that would set me back like $30, but this is only at a max of $18. Definitely worth an experience, really! And it’s good to share too!
1. Reverse Smores ($10)
It was a pity that I got too excited to eat it and forgot to take a cross section of this amazing creation. Like ARGHH, because within this amazing exterior of torched marshmallow lies the cold and delicious banana ice cream and an amazingly awesome cookie crust. Like awesome. I don’t even have adequate adjectives to describe it, cause I really liked it!
It’s a pretty cool idea too, reverse smores because instead of having torched marshmallow as a filling, it becomes the exterior holding on to the surprise within. WOWWWW. That presentation though.
2. Strawberry Shortcake ($12)
OMG what a beauty this one is, and trumps any kind of deconstructed cakes HANDS DOWN.
I cannot, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the Japanese Sponge. SO soft, so fluffeh! The strawberry sorbet added a refreshing touch to the dish, and that elderflower mousse thingy was yum.
3. Lychee Martini ($16)
That’s crazy effort really. White Chocolate, Cherry Yogurt, Litchi Mousse, Lemon granita and edible flowers. OMG. So damn light and amazing! Perfect after a meal at 85 I tell you.
My favorite part of this dish was the cherry yogurt. Oh my gosh. Amazing, amazing stuff!
They also have a post for this dish, BUT i think I didn’t get to try it or I may have missed it!
4. Kyoho Dreams ($18)
This is the 3-course dessert and best to be shared with 2 so you can savour everything more! HEHE!
Pre
The pre is made up of these dwarf spheres, made of wine grapes! Damn shiok as you feel it pop in your mouth, and wine grapes… Who doesn’t love them?
Main
This. Is an edible garden. So damn pretty, you sure it came out from the ice cream place at bedok?
This consisted of Grape Tartare, with shiso, lime and salt, also a scoop of Grapefruit sorbet! It’s a super refreshing dish, although I think I would have enjoyed it more if the scoop of sorbet was larger, cause I like MORE ice cream! Hehe! I especially like the burst of flavor profiles like salty, sweet and slight acidity all in one place, it felt like a party in my mouth!
Post:
I kinda got how the pre led to the main, however the tomyum granita did not fit in to what I’ve expected and I can only guess that ending off with the unique tomyum granita was probably a way to cleanse the palette from all the sweet stuff? I don’t know, but it’s really pretty and it was something that I’ve wanted to try since my first visit, because I LOVE TOMYUM.
To my dismay, I really didn’t like this one. Probably because of the really strong flavors from the Ginger. Yucks yucks. Damn disgusting, I couldn’t even manage 1.5 mouthfuls, even though they did tomyum-ish, but.. I cannot. I don’t like! A pity!
5. Chocolat Jardin ($18)
The MOST exciting dish that got everyone perplexed at first, with a bucket of flower, and then a few small balls in wooden balls. It was until they poured water into the pot, and we see the dry ice effect, like below, before everyone started squealing like secondary school girls. Yes, even the men.
The MOST intriguing dessert I’ve had – Yogurt Bon Bon and Truffle Mochi. Best shared between 2, because there’s only one truffle mochi and 2 bon bon. The truffle mochi was… different. It had the flavors of a truffle, in a mochi. My brain cannot comprehend, but it’s good!
DO NOT. I repeat. DO NOT attempt to share the yogurt bon bon because NO. It will burst and drip yogurt everyone. Another word of caution though, this is EXTREMELY SOUR, and a little weird tasting. Please practice caution while eating it!
Main
This is honestly… Mindblowing. How did they even do that? At just $18. Wow.
Chocolate, Matcha, Lemon marshmallows, with seasonal fruit sorbet. Ooooh, please try this and you will know what I mean. So many flavor profiles in one, I just can’t… I love the textures of marshmallow too, so.. This was easily one of my favorites!
Lastly, I don’t know where this came from, but this is their NEW Green tea spheres! I honestly thought this tasted better than the mojito ones, because it’s less sharp in its flavors. Instead these spheres burst into a soothing flow of ah… green tea. I am not sure if you understand what I mean, but I like lah ok?
DO try these new plated desserts from FATCAT because they are not only value for money, these are really quality, quality desserts! Me likes, and I regret moving to Hougang and staying in hall now, because BEDOK IS SO FARRRRR.
