Lis Gelato. Lis? Is it a girl’s name? Okay no. It’s actually the acronym for Love Is Simple. Ah, gelato. Who can HATE gelato, really? Love is definitely simple with gelato, especially in the sultry heat.
Riding on the fame and popularity of the underwhelming pop up Palladium Cafe, will Lis be the rose amongst the thorns, in terms of the quality of food served in this damn ulu area of Ecospring Show Village?
Lis gelato is actually situated in the area of Palladium Cafe, in the alfresco dining area of Palladium in fact.
Clever, clever location because besides coffee and cakes, we would obviously want some gelato to cool ourselves off from this heat right?
You’ll see that the gelato served here is an amazing complement to the beautiful view you have at Palladium. But first, let’s look at the menu!
Their signature offering will be their LOVE IS SIMPLE – which is basically gelato wrapped between 2 “crispy cotton candy”. Uhh..
A variety of ice cream flavors available here. You’ll be able to choose the color of your “crispy cotton candy” (*squint and zoom into the different colored circles), so pick either your favorite ice cream flavor or the best color to go with your cotton candies! Ooooh so exciting!
We picked the pink and tiffany blue “crispy cotton candy” and the chocolate and strawberry flavored “gelato”.
So pretty right? I cannot. That rose. Oh my gosh, would someone propose to me with this? Haha!
But, have you ever heard of this phrase – Nice to see but not nice to eat? (Translate to Chinese, maybe more familiar).
The “GELATO” was basically really icy cheapo ice cream. While one of my companions commented that it’s WALLS ice cream, I honestly thought WALLS would have done a better job. My first spoonful of this got me biting into a chunk of ice. I think when they named themselves gelato, they meant ice cream lah, like they are probably trying to portray the literal meaning of an ice cream. I don’t usually swear, but.. What the flower.
Their definition of “Crispy Cotton Candy” was basically a flowery meringue. Very sweet, but I like the textures of meringues, so.. I just kept chewing on to it while feeling concerned about my future diagnosis of diabetes.
Umm.. Lis definitely DID NOT manage to improve my impression of this Palladium place. I have to admit the place is really pretty-looking, with its serene ambience and scenic view. But the food served there… Just forget about it. Go get a few OOTD shots in this area if you have to, and bring your own picnic basket instead of wasting your money here. Seriously. PFFTTTT. Thank god these places are just pop-ups.
