Review: Mr Churro @ ION Orchard

Photo 12-12-15, 11 12 46 AM

Churros always get me excited, however it’s not only not easy to find some good, convenient churros in Singapore, I also apparently very scared I become fatter, as you guys know, so I don’t usually willingly eat churros unless I have a massive craving for it.

This morning, I woke up at 7.30am just to have churros because MR CHURRO, the popular Korean churros franchise has landed in Singapore, with its very first outlet at ION Orchard. Psst.. I heard this will be the first of AT LEAST THREE outlets to open in Singapore in the next three years.

What will they offering in their Singapore outlets?
Expect their iconic 50cm original churro and ice cream churros, and ION Orchard outlet will serve the EXCLUSIVE banana milk soft serve ice cream here in Singapore! They also have churros with dips, the filler churro, mini churros and several drinks!

Posting this because the guy behind looks like Mr Churro.

The PlacePhoto 12-12-15, 10 13 51 AM

Located at B4 of ION Orchard, Mr Churro is located beside Dunkin’ Donuts, and just opposite Candy Empire. A strategic place as you should be able to spot them when you ride the escalator down from H&M! Besides, it would be tough to miss them with their bright orange t-shirts!

They have relatively wide variety of churros – Churros done 5 ways is it? Haha!

The Food

I did not try their drinks because I’m not a fan of non-specialty coffee. NO LAH. I NOT SNOB. SERIOUS. But I really prefer to drink my kopi o kosong or specialty coffee. Haiya personal preference, please don’t judge. (AIYA JUDGE ALL YOU WANT. HAHA!) I heard thei Ade Green Grape tasted like F&N and it was pretty sweet too.

Now, on to the main point of this post – CHURROS.

1. ORIGINAL CHURRO ($4.50)Photo 12-12-15, 10 52 37 AM
Oh you can see them make your churros on the spot too!

This is the original churro. 50cm long hor. I LOVED the texture of their churros. CRISP on the outside and a slightly chewy texture. GOOD. The kind that I like! It was also well dusted with cinnamon, albeit a little bald spots here and there, it still tasted pretty good!

2. CHURRO WITH DIP ($5) – Just review purposes. It would be served with the 50cm churro!

I liked the dark chocolate dip best, GAO enough, and not too sweet! Their other dips include blueberry and milk custard!

3. NUTTY CHURRO ($5.90)

Pretty doesn’t quite cut it huh? Haha! This is basically drizzled with the dark chocolate and sprinkled with peanuts and almonds. I like the chocolate a lot actually, but the nuts were a good addition in terms of flavors but did not do much to add to the crunch.

Guess what? The churros remained crisp even after a good 15 minutes of phototaking. Wow.

4. ICE CREAM CHURRO ($6.50)

This comes with either Banana Milk – Singapore exclusive flavor or vanilla. I heard the banana milk ice cream tasted just like banana milk. Uhh of course right hahaha, but everyone loved it! A good twist of flavors from the usual, and since it’s a Singapore Exclusive, TRY LAH.

Closing Remarks

I’m glad that there are more and more places selling churros setting up in Singapore! That means that I can get my fix of churros any time I want, instead of going out of my way to get them. CHURROSITY CLOSED DOWN IN HOLLAND V THOUGH. ): Haha (but their standard also drop)!

I don’t know if these churros are better than your boyfriend, because I haven’t tried them due to abovementioned reasons, but those who have tried, preferred this, in terms of flavors and textures.

Well.. I guess you got to try it for yourself and make the judgment!

How to get there?
