Review: Fishball Story @ UTown, NUS

Wow. NUS is really becoming the next big thing for FOOD in the West.

After the opening of Butter My Buns at UTown, which has been bringing throngs of crowds, the famous Fishball Story from Golden Mile Hawker Centre has moved over to Food Clique (UTown)!

Opened by the super young and capable Douglas, his fishballs have been bringing the girls to the hawker, ranging from bloggers, foodies, and even artistes! Following his Grandma’s recipe, Douglas makes each and every fishball by hand, using yellowtail fish WITHOUT any flour! Such dedication, and it’s no wonder why their fishballs are so firm, yet bouncy!Photo 1-2-16, 7 30 49 PMThis was my first time trying out fishball noodles by Fishball Story since I was back at school for a basketball game, and okay lah, I rushed there when I heard of their opening actually..

Located at Food Clique in UTown, the stall shares a space with a yong tau foo stall, which you can also order from to spice your bowl up with the YTF ingredients. Since I went there close to their closing hours, they ran out of several ingredients, and I got an extra fried wanton to replace the missing fish cake!  I didn’t catch Douglas in action, unfortunately!Photo 1-2-16, 7 34 00 PM (2)While Fishball Story is known for its fishballs, I really liked their meepok, which was not too dry, and easy to chew even after I was waiting for my friend’s food to arrive! SUPER NICE, because my usual noodles tend to be really dry and hard after just a short wait. Remember to add vinegar if you like, because I loved it with my noodles, and that LARD in my noodles was really an icing on the cake!

I’m honestly not a fan of fishball noodles, even bordering upon hating fishball noodles because I DONT LIKE FISHBALLS, however, I wouldn’t mind having this bowl at Fishball Story on my next visit, so I guess it’s pretty good! The best part? This is just priced at $3 (NUS students)/$3.50 (Public), but I think all of you look so young… They confirm think you’re students one lah! Go try it if you can! And for NUS people, gosh, you guys are SO LUCKY, man.

PSSSTT… I heard they will be heading over to Fusionopolis come April! 😉

How to get there?
