After writing up the post on my experience at THA City Loft at Ekkamai, several of my friends have actually went there to stay on their recent trip to Bangkok and they loved it! I’m glad, of course. But mostly surprised because it is still really new to me that people ACTUALLY read my blog and follow my recommendations! HAHA!
On my second trip to Bangkok this year, I stayed at possibly THE best hotel I’ve ever stayed in ever. As I’ve traveled with my parents a lot, we usually stay in 5-star hotels in many of the other countries, and I had my fair share of hostels and boutique hotels, BUT none of those experiences have actually beat this experience at The Residence on Thonglor.
I’ve raved so much about it to my friends and they were all like AIYA GO WRITE ABOUT IT LAH. WE ALSO CANNOT SEE WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT. So.. Here’s the post and gosh, I’d go back there again, and again, and again. And AGAIN, THIS IS NOT A SPONSORED POST BY THE HOTEL. NO. I just loved this place so much, I HAD TO SHARE.
Priced at just $100 a night for a Studio Junior Suite (which is the one I stayed in), you’ll see why I say this is pretty darn affordable. The maximum occupancy for the room is 2, and that means $50 per pax for a night. I CANNOT. Read on to find out WHY I CANNOT. *hyperventilates*
The Location
A heads up, the ONLY negative point that the hotel is located at a good 20-minute walk away from the nearest BTS station 2.3km away. To me, it was a great workout everyday though. They DO have their private taxis to fetch you to and fro to Thong Lor BTS everyday, and guess what, it’s available upon your request unlike the one at THA where there’s a schedule for the private transport out! Just tell the receptionist that you need transport out, and you can get one immediately; and for coming back, give the hotel a ring, and they will be there for you! I’ve tried this service once on the morning I checked out, and it was AMAZING and seamless.
There are a lot of attractions along the way towards the hotel, like numerous street stalls, markets, cafes like Rocket X S79, Japanese restaurants, The Commons, After you, J Avenue, and many more. You’ll be so distracted with the sights and sounds you’d probably forget about the distance. I WALKED TO AND FRO ALL 3 DAYS because it’s just so amazing and interesting to immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of the streets of Thong Lor.
There’s even a 7-11 just opposite the hotel! Talk about convenience!
Alright, now zooming into the hotel!
Taking the lift up to the hotel.. BE SURE THAT YOU’VE PRESSED THE BUTTONS of the lift because it’s like a touch pad thingy. I stood in front of the lift stupidly for 5 minutes because it was not lighted up despite me pressing it. So.. MAKE SURE it’s lighted up! The marbled walls were GORGEOUS, and that natural lighting filling the entire space. Wow. I liked how The Residence felt casual with just table for its receptionist, yet had poise and style in its design of its lobby. Here’s the waiting area or just simply where you can lounge in the lobby!
They have their in-house restaurant cum cafe called Kuppadeli. Sorry I forgot to snap a picture of the place in my haste, and from my mishaps in Bangkok! HAHA! Shout out to the friendly staff there though! You could get your daily morning cuppa from Kuppadeli, and they serve pretty legit looking brunch food!
The Room
I liked how the hotel is relatively new. It’s only 4 months old and hence the occupancy rate was still quite low then! I felt like I owned the entire level HAHA!
I had a HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE surprise when I opened the door, because there were NO online reviews of this place and.. Yeah. I didn’t know what to expect. I thought it was just a regular room.
Toiletries including body soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, grooming kits were all provided. The only downside was that, the water heater… lets you experience the cold in arctic on one side, and the deepest levels of hell on the other. There was no in between. I had trouble trying to switch the temperature here and there throughout my bath. ):
The room was AMAZING, guys. I can’t stop falling in love with this place and gushing about it. I long to go back now even till today. There were also plenty of power points in the room and the beds were so nice and comfy!

Closing Remarks
I CANNOT emphasize on how much I love this hotel. The amenities, the room, and the impeccable service had left an unforgettable experience for me in Bangkok. It simply feels like I’m returning home after a long day of combing the streets of Bangkok. It’s the kind of room that you’d look forward to going back to because everything just feels so nice and comfy!
You could even whip up your own meals, or take away some food from the streets and have plenty of space to have them in your room without worrying about dirtying your beds and all. I highly, highly recommend this hotel.

It’s really a lovely place.. I stayed there sometime in March 2016.. They upgraded my studio to a 1 room suite. If you think your studio room is beautiful, wait till you try the 1 room suite.
It’s a bedroom + living room. The most amazing thing is the view from the living room. You can see the whole street!! Too bad can’t share photos here..
