Did you know – D’good over at Holland Village was the very first cafe that sparked my interest in cafe hopping? I remember how thrilled I was by the idea of spending my meager student allowance on an eggs Benedict – never looked back since. Honestly still one of the prettier cafes around, with that loft like design and a garden alfresco dining area, damn romantic at night; with plenty of power sockets and comfy seats for students to jog on to the seats. I wish I had a picture for you guys but nah, that has been like 3 years ago?
I digressed. As usual.
Of course I was really happy to hear that they’ve expanded to Takashimaya because this meant that I do not have to go all the way to the west (cause I no more student), and I was hoping that the student crowds would be less crazy here.
Ever since their opening, I’ve visited them four times, all for their LOBSTER ROLLS, LOBSTER PASTA and coffee!
To cater to the Tai Tai crowds in orchard, ahem my mum, they have recently launched a High Tea Set, which is available daily from 2 to 5.30pm!
The reason why they need another menu for their drinks is because they’ve got 100 types of drinks you can choose to go with your high tea set – that includes their solid coffees and variants + interesting concoctions of teas. There’s literally a thing for everyone!!
Here’s the menu!
$38 for TWO?!? With an addition of a great selection of drinks?! Unbelievable.
What does this set consist of?
A three tier goodness.
First tier – Savory sandwiches and toasts my favorite has got to be the one with tiger prawn and caviar. Damn shiok! In fact, the tomato and herb surprised me as well!
Second tier – SCONES! I love scones!
But what I love better in this entire set is the HOMEMADE MATCHA SPREAD!OMG. They should totally sell it in a bottle and I’d be the first to buy it. The matcha was rich and had just the right amounts of bitter. Seriously, mind blowing. Ok la do I seem like I’m exaggerating? Haha!
Last tier – SWEETS AND DESSERTS
This tier consists of happiness with their very own matcha Swiss roll, made with the very same matcha powder from their spread; CHEESE TART, Black Forest white chsholate dome and a raspberry almond cake, which was slightly too sweet for us!
I honestly can’t think of anything as value for money as this high tea set, you get your lunch, tea break and dinner all settled in one sitting, cause IT’S REALLY FILLING. Besides that choice to choose over 100 different beverages… HUGE WIN.
And of course in addition to our high tea set, a visit to D’good would be incomplete without their lobster roll.
ALWAYS. It’s slightly on the pricier side at $28 (?, correct me if I’m wrong cause I’m blogging on the train, lazy check, HAHA). Nonetheless it has always hit the right spots with its fresh, generous chunks of lobster and buttered brioche.
Ah, I’m getting hungry with all these talk about food! Really, if you are looking for a nice place to chill out when you’re in town, look no further than D’good!
